Impending Doom…

Impending Doom…

Ever get a sense of impending doom? I’ve had that for the last week and it has been really harshing my life. It first started last Tuesday. I meant to go out on my day off, but decided to be lazy instead and that lazy turned into malaise. It then got worse when I realized that I forgot that I had free tickets to go see Blue Man Group here in Boston! Of course I realized at 5:30, a full hour into the show.

Its hung around me since for the last week. My boss had to leave work for a family emergency and then our co-superior fell down the stairs and sprained her ankle. So I’ve been in charge at my work site where I’ve only been for 3 weeks! So add to the sense of doom a lot of stress and worry that I have to perform well. I then realized that I thought we were in Paris for an extra day, so I had booked an AirBnB place and tickets for the Eiffel Tower. Had to give those tickets up and am trying to change our travel dates with the place we rented so I don’t waste so much money.

I’m sad I will only be in Paris for a day and a half, but it will be a great intro to the “City of Lights.” I’m hopeful that we will be back since I would love to travel to Normandy and pay my respects at the beaches where so many fell.

However, I’m realizing that this week’s angst was really just that. There are so many other people around the world that are going through so much more. One thing that helped me remember this is the Relay for Life challenge that we will be participating in on Saturday as a family. In 2008, my dad was diagnosed with ALL, a form of leukemia, a week before his birthday. Two years later, he got a bone marrow transplant the same day that my niece was born. The first time we participated in the Relay was last year and it was pretty cool and reminded me how lucky we are as a family. There are issues, but they are minor compared to what we’ve been through and what could have been.

I just have to remember that when I’m giving a tour to 15 school kids, a regional deputy director, and hosting a writing seminar all in one day for my Monday!
