And we’re back…

And we’re back…

After 50 miles of walking 9 gigs of photos 2 countries many questionable bathrooms 7 modes of travel later… we are back from our whirlwind trip to London and Paris. I think I took over 300 photos of the Bastille Day fireworks in just 30 minutes. Amazing. Look for more posts soon!

Views on AirBnB so far…

Planning a upcoming trip to Europe, I decided that we would be better off staying in an AirBnB instead of in a hotel. We would have access to at least a small kitchenette, and probably would be paying less to live in London and Paris. So far, AirBnB.com hasn’t been too bad at the logistics. One thing that I do not like is that we had a reservation cancelled by the owner without any reason given. I was able to…

Historic Map of Paris

Historic Map of Paris

This map is beautiful. I cannot wait to go to Paris later this year and explore this area in person. Watching the Eiffel Tower twinkle at night is a definite bucket list item to cross off. Source: paris_revolution.jpg (JPEG Image, 1747 × 1184 pixels) – Scaled (89%)

Thursday Tips, Tricks, Treasures

Thursday Tips, Tricks, Treasures

Today’s tip is very simple…if you are anywhere near a National Park Service site and have a question, need a restroom, or want an awesome map, GO. Generally, the bathrooms are clean, the maps are plentiful, and the Rangers working there are local so they know a great deal about the area. Most people think only of the park NPS sites when they talk about this agency, but that only makes a small number (59/407) of the various units. The…

Map Mondays

Map Mondays

Today’s map is brought to us by the Norman B. Leventhal Map Collection at the Boston Public Library. I’m very excited that next month I will be getting a special tour of the facilities and up close with some of the gems that they have in their collection. It is amazing to look at maps like the one below and realize that in the 15th century, they had a better understanding of the geography of the world than some 9th…

WITS 2015

WITS 2015

In just a few weeks, hundreds of travel focused women will descend upon my fair city to participate in the 2nd Women In Travel Summit (WITS ’15). Being that I am part of the travel industry (some might call it a complex here in Boston) and love to travel, I figured that this would be a great conference to go to. Since there are women from all over the world coming here, I thought I would put up some helpful…

Thursday Tips, Tricks, Treasures…

Thursday Tips, Tricks, Treasures…

Visiting Boston this year? One place that you should definitely stop by is the Old North Church in the North End. This is a unique site in Boston, as it is both an incredibly important historical site AND the oldest active church in town. Though called “Old North” by just about everyone, that is not its proper name. For some odd reason, Christ Church has just never caught on.  Founded in 1722, Old North is a pretty awesome place to…

The Traveling Maps…

The Traveling Maps…

Lately, I’ve been feeling rather stuck. I’m not sure if it is the massive snow piles that just won’t go away, the monotony of my job during the winter where a lot of things are closed, or something else.  This has been an incredibly difficult winter. Days like this make me yearn for last August and our trip to Hawaii…it was incredibly strange and fun. Where else can you take a photo with a wooden statue of Fidel Castro or…
