Now that it isn’t 90 plus degrees in Boston anymore, our thoughts are turning to pumpkins, cinnamon, and foliage! Visitors from all around the world have been coming to Boston looking for that perfect foliage picture to bring home.

New England isn’t the only place to find amazing foliage, but might be the only place to find it while eating an apple cider donut* or 4. 😉 Check out these other awesome locations…

Lexie from Steps to Follow found some amazing colors in one of the National Parks, Great Smoky Mountain:

The Great Smoky Mountains in North Carolina and Tennessee are an amazing atmosphere to experience some truly fantastic Fall colours. The park is a series of wild trails that leave you lost in beautiful colours and wildlife. If you climb up one of the many mountains, you will be rewarded with an incredible panoramic vista of every possible foliage colour. The photo here was snapped in Cade’s Cove while exploring the historical trail, another great place to revel in the beauty. The best time to see Fall foliage in The Smoky Mountains is in October or early November. But beware! Even in early October the mountain weather can be unpredictable. You can have nice warm weather one minute to the threat of a snowstorm the next. Pack accordingly and enjoy!

Mine is taken in Queens, New York in a quiet suburban neighbourhood that I lived in for three months. Everybody at home was complaining about the grey weather so I sent them this! Autumn is such an incredible time to visit New York. The leaves are turning brown and covering the ground in Central Park and the city is getting its festive cheer on.

Luke from Anti-Travel Guides discovered fall foliage in the spring!

In April this year my wife and I visited New Zealand. April is right in the middle of what we call Autumn and the Queenstown Gardens were in full fall, with a full range of reds, yellows and oranges. It has a beautiful view of Lake Wakatipu and the mountains, and if you BYO frisbee there is a full 18 hole frisbee golf course, it’s a lot of fun. A leisurely stroll through the gardens is a fantastic way to spend a morning.

The Canadian Maritimes are absolutely stunning in the autumn. The weather is so crisp and refreshing and, for a few weeks before starting to fall off the trees, the leaves turn fiery oranges, yellows and reds. This photo is one I took of the Kennebecasis River, standing on a bridge in my hometown of Hampton, New Brunswick.

For myself, I love seeing foliage in unexpected places like the city…walking between Faneuil Hall and the Bunker Hill Monument provides glimpses of foliage in between the skyscrapers and historic sites.
