Hawaiian Dreams

Hawaiian Dreams

Woot! We just booked our hotel and flights for our 2nd honeymoon. A few years ago, we combined a friend’s wedding on the Big Island with a trip to Kauai and Oahu. During that trip, we got epic sunburns, saw turtles, jumped off of giant cliffs, dodged not one but TWO hurricanes, and visited the USS ARIZONA.

It was amazing.

However, this time around we are going to actually spend time on the Big Island. A lot of people talk down about it, but we really enjoyed our short visit last time. We were able to see a lot of different environments (the Big Island has almost ALL of the environmental zones) and animals.

Next time, we hope to see lava flowing, more turtles, awesome fish and birds, and hopefully no cracks in the highway 🙂

Have you been? What is your favorite part of the Big Island?

  1. Nop I have not been to Hawaii yet. I think a main reason to visit for me would be a slow moving lava stream, I just find that super impressive and I have not experienced it in real.

    1. Yeah, no kids means we can have fun trips 😉 It is our 20th dating anniversary too so we are treating ourselves!

  2. Have an amazing second honeymoon! We love Oahu and have been several times, but would also love to try the Big Island. Hawaii is one of our favorite places to be, it’s sheer perfection.

  3. The Big Island sounds like a great place for your second honeymoon. Would also love to see the flowing lava! Enjoy your vacation and hopefully, no dodging hurricanes this time. 🙂

  4. The Big Island is amazing, I loved it, though there is not much vegetation. The national parks are amazing and have some great hikes down into the craters. Also I did night snorkelling with the manta rays which was one of the most amazing things I have done.

    1. Did you go to Volcano or Hawi? There vegetation there was awesome. Saw a group of feral donkeys on the way back to Kona 🙂 The Manta Rays actually gather at the hotel that we are staying at so I hope to be able to see them from above.

  5. No, I have not been so looking forward to read your next post. Take lots of pictures of the lava flowing for me, please! I love volcanoes . . . And this time pack tons of sunscreen 😉
