Views on AirBnB so far…

Planning a upcoming trip to Europe, I decided that we would be better off staying in an AirBnB instead of in a hotel. We would have access to at least a small kitchenette, and probably would be paying less to live in London and Paris.airbnb

So far, AirBnB.com hasn’t been too bad at the logistics. One thing that I do not like is that we had a reservation cancelled by the owner without any reason given. I was able to find another place for about the same money, but there was a serious moment of fear.

Another owner was able to contact me in advance with news of a drain issue and we were able to cancel that reservation and find a new place.

This owner is very interesting. She will not be in the area while we are there, but on vacation herself. Though we were going to be charged for sheets, we are now getting a 10 pound credit for putting out the trash, gathering the sheets, and doing some light vacuuming. Nothing too unexpected as a person who grew up doing that after long trips to the Cape.

I’m hopeful that this will work out. The VRBO place that we used in Hawaii was pretty good but lacked a lot of personality and location. Our friends had a place right on the water…and giant cockroaches everywhere. We only had like, 3 and a teeny tiny gecko inside. Next week will tell the tale!
