Autumn Fills the Air

Autumn Fills the Air

Yesterday, we decided to be tourists in our own backyard and join the crowds going to view the beautiful foliage of New Hampshire before it was too late.

We were blown away by the views!

After buying our tickets, we waited in line for only a little bit. There are two tram cars that take 80 people each in a ride that takes about 10 minutes each way to the 4,100-foot summit for views that can’t be beat.

On a good day, you can go swimming, walk the summit, or picnic on the property. However, yesterday was gloomy and cold.

Tip: People will run towards the open windows for the best photographs, but as long as you are next to the wall you will see some great foliage. Don’t stampede the children in your bid to get the “best” seats!  I took this photo on the way up looking back at 93 North.

To get there:

  • Take 93 North to Exit 34B, go left off of the exit and turn into the parking lot.
  • Phone: (603) 823-8800
  • Website: www.cannonmt.com

Obviously, we are not the only ones obsessed with getting out into nature during this amazing season. If you need more ideas about things to do, check out this awesome list over at The Daily Adventures of Me. Lots of great links and options for the whole family!

Know before you go:

  • The parking lot at the base of Cannon Mountain fills up pretty quickly and there is always a bottleneck right before the exit due to dropping to 1 lane. Be patient, you will get there!
  • The pricing for the Tram is here. If you have the time, check out the Flume Gorge too! Its pretty cool.
  • Bring a winter hat if you are prone to cold! It was probably 20 degrees cooler at the top of the observation tower and WINDY!!
  • There is food at the top, but it is crowded and expensive. However, if you want to drink from the tallest tap in New Hampshire, drop by the bar before coming down.
